A heartfelt thank you goes to the students and their advisors who devoted countless hours throughout the year to bringing their ideas to life. We also extend our gratitude to the vendors who shared their expertise through hands-on, interactive exhibits, offering students valuable insight into emerging STEM fields.
Student participants were recognized across elementary, junior, and senior divisions. Winners received exciting STEM-related prizes—ranging from drones to robotics kits—designed to encourage continued exploration and learning. Educators were also recognized for inspiring the next generation of young scientists.
The awards ceremony featured inspiring remarks from Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse, UA Vice Provost Dr. Suzanne McCray, DESE Assistant Commissioner Dr. Darrell Smith, and WPPG Director of Education Dr. Jeff Dean. Their messages reinforced the vital role STEM plays in our rapidly evolving world and celebrated the creativity and promise of Arkansas’s young minds. Their leadership encourages students to dream boldly and pursue meaningful change.
This year’s festival honored Dr. Sarah McKenzie and Kathy Rollins for their outstanding advocacy for STEM and education in Arkansas. Special recognition was given to STEM partners—the Scott Family Amazeum, the University of Arkansas, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Fayetteville Public Library, and the Office for Education Policy—for their ongoing support and contributions to STEM education.
As we celebrate the close of another successful Arkansas STEM Festival, we are reminded of the limitless potential within our students and the strength of a community united around education and innovation. This event continues to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers—lighting the path toward a brighter, more connected future for Arkansas and beyond.
